Audi India launches petrol version of A6 sedan
1.8-litre petrol engine and 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, same Matrix headlights
When we drove the A6 Matrix last year, we were particularly impressed by the plush suspension, which held up to even the most extreme conditions. Back then, we drove the 2.0 TDI model, which allowed adequate performance, but the package of features and components — and particularly comfort — made it a winner in our books. Since then, Dieselgate has happened and the VW group has had some problems with their diesel engines, despite technically complying with regulations. In any case, the A6 avoided this issue as well as Delhi’s brief ban on 2000cc+ diesel vehicles. Now it is joined by a petrol variant — the A6 Matrix 35TFSI.

This fills a hole in the A6 lineup, which just had the loaded diesel vehicle on sale. ose who prefer their turbos in petrol now have an option. e engine is the venerable and fun 1.8 turbo, generating 190hp driving through a seven-speed dual-clutch S Tronic gearbox. ere are some small changes in the interior trim and the front bumper compared to the diesel version, but it remains substantially the same vehicle complete with the retractable 20cm MMI screen, gesture-based boot opening, 8 airbags, 14-speaker Bose music system, that exceptional adaptive air suspension and of course, the eponymous Matrix’ LED headlight system.
This is is not an all-new car though, so if you really like the virtual cockpit system or the new ergos of the new A4, you’ll have to wait a while before the A6 gets those goodies. The Audi A6 Matrix 35TFSI is available now for Rs 52,75,000 exshowroom, Maharashtra.
