Indian car collector buys Porsche 911 R

One of only 991 units made worldwide, this is currently the only such car in the country

Car collector Bhoopesh Reddy recently took delivery of the only Porsche 911 R in India. One of 991 produced worldwide, the 911 R weighs only 1370kg, generates 500hp/460Nm and tops out at 323kmph, while still delivering 7.5kmpl.

The specs and go-faster parts list is long and ridiculous. All-wheel steering, ceramic brakes, auto-blipping on downshifts, lightweight bits from the GT3, Carbon bonnet and wing, Magnesium roof, Carbon bucket seat for the driver, lightweight 20" wheels (245mm up front, a massive 305mm at the rear). A single-mass flywheel is optional, but disdain for the laws of physics comes standard.

This is the Porsche for the most enthu of enthu cutlets. Out back is a naturally-aspirated (gasp! see what I did there?) 4-litre flat-six motor mated to a six-speed sports transmission. And yes, it’s a manual 😱. Externally, it looks a lot like a Carrera/GT3 hybrid, and even gets a more street-friendly retractable spoiler instead of a huge fixed wing. Not feeling the hard-core? Don’t worry; you need to pull on straps to open the doors.
