Come April 2019, all two-wheelers in India will have to have mandatory braking assist functions, as decreed by the government. Whilst manufacturers can’t be bothered with developing ABS for the bare-bones commuter motorcycles, they have instead come up with an alternative.

Combined Braking System essentially actuates both the front and rear brakes of a two-wheeler when the left lever is pulled in. The Indian Ministry of Road Transport has stated that all new two-wheelers below 125cc must be fitted with CBS to be road-legal post-April 2019. Some manufacturers like TVS, Honda, and Hero already offer this feature in their lineup of vehicles.

Suzuki has added CBS to its successful Access 125 step-through and has also unveiled a special edition while at it. Now keep in mind that special editions are mostly cosmetic, and the Access is no different. Mechanically, there are no changes to the scoot. There are three colors on offer: Metallic Sonic Silver, Metallic Matte Black, and Pearl Mirage White. In addition to the palette, the alloy wheels of the Special Edition are black, so is the grab rail. Mirrors are fancy round chrome-covered items, and the Access 125 gets a badge marked ‘Special Edition’.

The 2018 Suzuki Access 125 CBS and Special Edition are now on sale with the base Access coming in at ₹58,980 (ex-showroom Delhi) and the Special Edition at ₹60,580.
