Celebrates 68th Republic Day with world record
You have to hand it to Nissan. They actually took their ₹2 crore GT-R supercar to the dry Sambhar lake bed in Rajasthan to shoot the video you see here. Note, we said Rajasthan — not Utah — which means that there was dust flying everywhere. In the car, outside the car, in every nook and cranny of the car. And we have it on good authority that there was not a single warning light on the dash all through the long shoot schedule. Try that with your Euro-missile.
Rally driver Rahul Kanthraj was the pilot for this record attempt, which had the GT-R circumscribe a 14.7km route, creating a deep outline of India’s map on the fine dust of the riverbed. Flat out, from what we hear and see in the video. The record, once official, will be in the 2018 edition of the Limca Book of Records.
Bonus: we now know that the Nissan GT-R is totally awesome for Indian driving conditions. Happy Republic Day!
